Overview
The Activation Coordinator is part of a multi-professional team providing care on an acute 40 bed inpatient mental health unit and an emergency Mental Health Assessment Zone. The Activation Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating a meaningful program to support and meet the needs of a diverse population. With the foundational principles of SafeWards and in collaboration with the team, the activation coordinator uses the values of respect, personhood and compassion to develop and deliver activities to both groups and individuals in an acute, mental health setting.
Education
- Certificate or Diploma in recreation/activation or equivalent experience required.
- Undergraduate degree in Health Studies is a strong asset.
- Additional certification or training in Mental Health an asset.
- Current BLS required.
Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of activation experience in a mental health setting preferred.
- Completion of SafeWards, TIDES,GPA, U-First, Butterfly Model or similar training an asset
- Computer literacy required
- Must display compassion, empathy and respect for patients, families and or care-partners of those living with mental illness
- Understand issues of stigma, psychosocial and socio-economic barriers and other challenges for those who experience mental illness
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are required
- Good work performance and attendance record required
