The Opportunity

The Summer Student will have the opportunity to participate in many aspects of Design and Manufacturing Engineering at a company that manufactures best in class handling and storage solutions for grain and water. In this role, there will be opportunities to take part in live test procedures of products, better understand laws and regulations that our products must adhere too, gain exposure to the manufacturing process of products and of course, your ability to gain experience with utilizing your AutoCAD, Inventor & Microsoft Suite product skills.

The Team

The Summer Student reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will work closely with Manufacturing & Design personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Update Engineering BOM’s
  • Conduct test procedures to confirm designs.
  • Prepare drawings, manuals, and technical documents as required.
  • Create a 3D catalogue of our parts
  • Work with other computer programs (word processor, spreadsheet).
  • Interact with fellow employees to gather information.
  • Interact with other Westeel employees in other divisions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in post-secondary Engineering program or Engineering Technology.
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and implementation.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and detail-oriented nature.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to comfortably interact with employees and stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and resourceful.
  • Working knowledge of Auto Cad, Inventor & Microsoft Suite products
  • Agricultural knowledge is an asset.
