As an Design Coordinator, Electrical & ICAT you will:

  • Work closely with EllisDon MEiT Electrical Design and Pre-construction team across EllisDon business sectors and various business areas on pursuits and active projects.

  • Assist in pre-construction services for various sectors where systems are more complex (health care, mission critical, justice and educational).

  • Assist in reviewing electrical design and technology/systems design in order to provide a complete and competitive bid for design build pursuits.

  • Under the supervision of the Design Manager, work with consultants, estimating team and trade contractors to find cost effective solutions which meet client project requirements.

  • Prepare scope delineation matrices and other process tools to mitigate scope gaps and scope overlap in coordination with consultants, estimating team and trade contractors.

  • Participate in collaboration with architects, mechanical consultants, and other project stakeholders to integrate electrical systems effectively within the design.

  • Participate in meetings and assist in tracking project goals, timelines, and requirements to internal and external teams.

  • Liaise with utility providers (power and communications) for site services.

  • Participate in preparing drawings and load calculations for temporary power services (for construction) and life cycle replacements in collaboration with construction and facility management teams

Is this the right role for you?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge and/or exposure to engineering design with building electrical distribution, fire alarm, lighting, security, and communications systems (ICAT). (Coop or summer work experience in construction or design can count towards the minimum experience requirement)
  • A proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow in the field of electrical design and design management.
  • Good understanding of the applicability of the governing Codes and Standards for buildings.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills required, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, collaborate across departments and work on multiple projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of common computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam, AUTOCAD, REVIT (Revit preferred), and other relevant industry tools is a plus.
