The Equipment Service Technician of GN Corporations Inc. (GN) is a full-time position, responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting and repairing equipment while following safety rules and regulations. You will be required to maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures. You work as part of a team but would routinely perform work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties.


Specific Functions

As part of the Equipment service team, this role will interact with a variety of employees and managers from different departments. GN’s Service Technician job description includes the following:

  • Ensure correct and safe operation of equipment and machinery using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Identify faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics.
  • Source replacement parts and perform repairs.
  • Work with Maintenance manager to continually update the production process and system software.
  • Attend shift meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime.
  • Safely operate industrial equipment including fork trucks, aerial platform, cranes, power tools, hoists and hand tools.
  • Assess the condition of used parts using micrometers, calipers and specifications.
  • Assist in Preparation of maintenance reports and summary presentations using daily activity logs, analysis and trends.
  • Maintain electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical knowledge via on-going training, industry workshops and technical reading.
  • Adjust and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications.
  • Participate in mechanical and Electrical procedural trainings and techniques. (On-going training)
  • Assist on production lines to maintain uninterrupted production and minimize waste.
  • Diagnosis and repair of pumps, gearboxes, compressors, blowers, cooling towers, conveyor belts and other various types of rotating equipment.
  • Changing of shafts, mechanical seals, bearings, housings, oil seals, etc.
  • Rigging of equipment to install and/or remove old rotating equipment
  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Daily equipment inspections.
  • Machinery Lubrication
  • Move machinery and equipment, using hoist, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Drive company vehicle as needed.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations.


  • Quality Management System Understand and apply GN Corporations Inc. quality system requirements, including customer requirements and legal requirements.
    • Understand and apply GN Corporations Inc. policy for its commitment to quality.
    • Participate actively in training, operational improvement teams, preventative and corrective actions and identifying non-conformities.
    • Understanding, identifying and applying applicable procedures.


  • Occupational Health and Safety – Understand and apply GN Corporations Inc. Health and Safety policy as well as be responsible for his/her own health and safety at work.  Responsible to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission.
    • Responsible for the correct use protective clothing and equipment as provided by GN Corporations Inc. and for guarding against misuse or damage to such equipment.
    • Responsible for reporting any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self-corrected, or injury incurred during work, no matter how minor.
    • Responsible for avoiding injury resulting from manual handling tasks associated with his/her employment, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and appropriate manual handling techniques.


  • Industry Standards and Regulations – Be familiar with all relevant industry standards, recommended practices and regulations.  Monitor self-compliance with company, industry, environment and government requirements as well as promote their acceptance in all aspects of company business.


    Minimum Job Qualifications

    • Ability to pass pre-employment screening checks.
    • CNC equipment maintenance experience is a HUGE PLUS.
    • Familiarity with Mazak & DMG machines (an added asset)
    • Clean background record.
    • Valid Class 5 driver’s License.
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
    • Registered Industrial Mechanic/Millwright apprentice. (preference given to those with level 2 and 3).
    • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or heavy-duty mechanics is preferred.
    • Basic computer report writing skills.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office tools
    • Capable of operating hand, power and specialized tools.
    • Team player and willing to work with minimal supervision.
    • Adequate problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Good time management skills
    • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering manuals to understand equipment and controls.
    • Safety tickets an asset (i.e. CSTS, First Aid, H2S Alive, Forklift, Fall Arrest and Aerial Platform)
    • Basic understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 55001, AS9100D, IATF 16949 is an asset.
