Industrial Electrician
The Industrial Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems, automation controls, and motor control systems operated in a refrigerated food manufacturing environment. The successful candidate is a highly skilled Industrial Electrician with skills in PLC programming and VFD troubleshooting. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of our meat processing equipment and production lines.
Responsibilities:
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and industrial automation equipment in a meat processing plant.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.).
• Configure, install, and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
• Perform electrical diagnostics, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Ensure the electrical integrity of food-grade conveyors, slicers, grinders, packaging machines, and refrigeration units.
• Work with HMI systems for production monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Assist in the calibration and repair of temperature sensors, pressure transducers, and other automation devices used in meat processing.
• Support SCADA and industrial network systems to ensure seamless data communication.
• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on electrical panels, control systems, and safety circuits.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability.
• Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to document maintenance activities and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and workplace safety standards (NFPA 70E, CSA, OSHA).
• Participate in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Participate in training programs for relevant food safety & HACCP procedures, product quality requirements, equipment & process technology.
• Accountable to ensure a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and visitors.
• Contribute to and model behaviors that support our commitments to a respectful workplace.
• Report all accidents, incidents and near misses to your Supervisor and a Member of the Health and Safety Committee.
• Contribute to the overall Health & Safety of yourself and all team members. Participate in JHSC initiatives and follow established policies as outlined in the Health & Safety policies.
