DescriptionThe WSP Applied Solutions team has an opening for a Lead Environmental Construction Project Manager. This candidate will be based out of Kitchener, Mississauga, Whitby, Barrie, Sudbury or Winnipeg. Other locations may be available for the right candidate.
Our team handles a diverse range of environmental and civil construction projects across Canada. As a Lead Project Manager with the construction team, you should have sound project, program management and administrative skills. You should be able to define, develop and manage multi-disciplinary teams. We deliver construction as prime contractor and as construction manager for work related to contaminated site remediation, heavy civil construction, mine closure, decommissioning and demolition. You'll be working with a regional team, on some of our largest and most important local and national projects.
You'll help to identify and develop new opportunities for WSP in Ontario and Eastern Canada and foster our existing relationships with our valued clients. As a Construction Project Manager, you will promote, mentor and develop our team, by providing direction and sharing your experience.
As a Lead Construction Project Manager with WSP, you will have project oversight and will guide project teams, while being accountable for quality of work, cost, schedule and importantly, the safety of our projects.

What you can expect to do here as a Lead WSP Construction Project Manager:
- Deliver environmental remediation, heavy civil construction, decommissioning and demolition, mining, marine and/or ground improvement work.
- Lead teams in the preparing of proposals and presentations to promote services and bring in new work.
- Prepare construction cost estimates for work.
- Work with the commercial team on development of scopes of work and engage procurement support as necessary.
- Manage project delivery with a high regard for scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
- Work together with construction personnel and engineering design staff to resolve technical and constructability issues.
- Deliver on high expectations and deliver best in class safety during project execution.
- Work collaboratively with technical project resources and HSSE teams that have oversight of work.
- Realize new construction opportunities for large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects across Canada.
- Leading a team of project delivery staff and construction personnel to resolve technical and constructability issues.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- 15+ years experience as an environmental or heavy civil Construction Project Manager in the fields of environmental remediation, civil construction, decommissioning and demolition, mining, marine and/or ground improvement work.
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental management, civil/environmental engineering or equivalent. A Licensed Professional Engineer and/or ability to be licensed in other provinces, would be preferable, but is not required.
- PMP designation would be a bonus but is not required.
- You have field and office-based experience, project management experience and in-depth knowledge of applicable provincial and federal environmental regulations.
- Willing to travel up to 50% of the time, and to work independently and remotely when required.
- Demonstrate creativity and a willingness to learn new things and expand horizons.
- You are an independent self-starter, requiring little oversight and with the ability to lead and mentor a team that we would build around you.
