About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Payroll & HR Administrator will be responsible for providing essential support to the Human Resources Department by performing a variety of administrative duties, including payroll processing, benefits administration, onboarding, offboarding, and HR audits. This role also involves assisting with fundraising campaigns and multiple financial activities related to payroll, benefits, and pension administration.

The successful applicant will:

  • Prepare and administer payroll for all company employees, including commission calculations.
  • Prepare forms such as records of employment, income tax forms, and remittances.
  • Implement salary increases, bonuses, and commissions in accordance with signed paperwork.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes.
  • Prepare monthly remittances for pension and WSIB payments.
  • Provide backup support for other payroll administrators.
  • Assist in the administration of employee programs (e.g., health benefits, pension, etc.).
  • Handle payroll and group benefit related inquiries from employees.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health benefits.
  • Schedule and coordinate onboarding training sessions.
  • Send new hire paperwork, information, and training documents (referring to new hire checklist).
  • Complete HR audits and assist in tracking vacation accrual.
  • Help organize company events and assist with special HR projects.

We are seeking a candidate with the following experience and attributes:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a payroll or HR administrative position.
  • Payroll certification is required.
  • Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) software is a plus.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong understanding of HR-related laws, principles, and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including clear oral and written communication.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic team player.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy, especially in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
