Mattamy Asset Management (MAM) is an asset manager focused on building a diversified portfolio of investments across geographies, asset classes and the spectrum of risk and return. Mattamy Asset Management is the parent company of Mattamy Homes Canada and Mattamy Homes U.S., which together comprise the largest privately held homebuilding platform in North America. Stelumar Advanced Manufacturing Inc. (SAMI), is the newest business enterprise launched under the Mattamy Asset Management umbrella (leveraging the name of a former Mattamy operation known for creativity and innovation). SAMI is a modern, advanced manufacturing company that will utilize automation and robotics, in a brand-new facility to be built in the GTA. The business is expected to grow quickly and significantly as production capacity is built and it scales to meet demand. The focus of SAMI will be on enhancing the customer and homebuilding experience through innovative, next-generation production methods for elements such as cabinetry, modular and prefabricated building components (e.g. wall and floor panels).

What we offer

The Project Manager, Logistics Strategy will be responsible for developing and articulating the end-to-end strategy for the movement of finished goods within the factory and to the delivery destination. The successful candidate will work very closely with the General Manager during this six-month contract on all variables and considerations that fall into the scope of logistics. This is an opportunity to provide thought leadership and implement best practices to accelerate the growth of our innovative new business. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background and significant experience with developing logistics strategies for innovative manufacturing businesses.

 

What you’ll do

  • Within the factory, determine warehouse layout and process optimization
    • Movement of finished goods (i.e., material flow) within the factory
    • Layout of storage areas and racking systems, including indoor, outdoor, or within delivery trailers
    • Layout of staging areas for prepping deliveries
    • Physical loading of products onto delivery trucks or into storage areas
  • Create finished goods delivery strategy
    • Evaluate in-house vs third party delivery for each business unit
    • Detailed business casing to assess all options, including trucks, trailers, box trucks, demountable, etc.
    • Consider all parameters, including, but not limited to, cost (capex and operating), reliability, flexibility, scalability, ability to operate within physical constraints of job sites, sizing, etc.
  • Onsite delivery considerations
    • Determine how each product will move from truck to final location
    • Articulate, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders from the homebuilding business, a strategy for coordinating with on-site stakeholders from within the business and externally (e.g. trades)
  • Develop an overall delivery and logistics business plan for each line of business, including a staffing plan, timelines, and KPI’s
  • Advise on technology to be used for scheduling, creating packing lists, delivery routes, fleet telematics, warehouse management system, etc.

What you bring

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, and/or MBA, in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience in establishing and enhancing a cohesive strategy across the supply chain to optimize efficiency and drive cost savings
  • Significant technical aptitude, including in the use of technology to automate logistics processes
  • 10+ years of comprehensive experience in the areas of supply chain, procurement, and logistics, and/or a combination of other experience including, but not limited to, contract negotiation, pricing, cost management, supplier management, and material planning
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience, including departmental management and budgetary responsibility
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct

 

Bonus Points

  • Experience with establishing a logistics function from the ground up in a manufacturing start-up environment
  • Understanding of shipping complex or bulky products, including the materials and components used in cabinetry, residential construction, structural systems, HVAC systems, and appliances
  • PMP, P.Eng., Lean Six Sigma, SCMP/CPIM/CSCP/CLTD/CTSC designations are an asset
