NAC is currently seeking a Risk & Legal Coordinator to join our Risk Management Department at our Head Office location in Morriston, ON.

Position Summary
The Risk & Legal Coordinator provides administrative support to the Risk & Legal Manager and department by coordinating claims, meetings, and legal documentation production. As well as, assisting with contract review, document maintenance and general administrative duties. 

Job Description

    • Complete Contract Risk and Invoice Reviews 
    • Coordinate production of legal documents as required
    • Act as the point of contact for the department, handling queries relating to risk & legal general insurance, invoices & costs, approvals, and other items.  Keep applicable personnel informed of progress and any issues that require attention.
    • Collaborate with all project personnel and the department in the preparation and coordination of various claims such as bond, insurance and lien claims, proceedings, etc. 
    • Maintain electronic documents and files relevant to the department, including insurance and bond policies. 
    • Assist, prepare, and distribute notice of projects.
    • Communicate with external stakeholders (i.e. clients, counsel, officials)
    • Process, track, follow up with billing, invoice, and payment status for risk, legal, and insurance costs.
    • Merge General (GC) and Supplementary (SC) condition documents/reports
    • Prepare and draft various standard letters and coordinate letters of credit.
    • Coordinate and manage; Applications, documents for Substantial Completion and Holdback Publications.
    • Manage and disseminate departmental correspondence (i.e. insurance)
    • Maintain monthly start and performance log.
    • Establish, implement and improve existing workflows and administrative procedures within the department.
    • Coordinate meetings, and manage meeting minutes
    • Conduct research as required.
    • Participate in other initiatives as assigned by the Construction Risk & Legal Manager. 

Requirements

    • Diploma/Degree in Legal Studies or Diploma/degree in a construction related education program and/or an equivalent of technical training & experience
    • Understanding of Construction processes, documentation, and contracts is an asset
    • Superior written and communication skills with enthusiasm and a positive, results-focused attitude.
    • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
    • Proven ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and records
    • Superior attention to detail
    • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Tact, diplomacy, flexibility, listening, and persuasion skills
    • Good computer skills (Word, Excel) and an excellent ability to learn new programs (custom databases)
