Summary

 The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for playing a lead role in managing financial operations, collaborating with stakeholders on process improvements, regulatory reporting/internal controls as well as providing valued added analysis to support projects.

 Responsibilities

Financial Close / Operations

  • Lead quarter/month-end processes with business partners managing timelines through preparation, review and analysis of financials (Review and propose accruals/entries for completeness of the ledger)
  • Analysis and review of month-end and quarter-end balance sheet / income statement activity
  • Responsible for PeopleSoft capital asset module for capital asset purchases / disposals
  • Support AP / Cheque process with external vendors

Financial Process Improvement (Treasury, vendor management):

  • Collaborate with business partners (CSSC, AIIM, Genpact, RBC, Chubb Treasury, Chubb AP, Financial Reporting) to monitor, continuously improve and investigate/resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Review and analyse weekly liquidity forecasts, bank charge analysis, quarterly investment reports
  • Monitor account reconciliations for aged items. Assist with investigation and resolution
  • Review existing processes for efficiency improvements and drive automation

Regulatory reporting

  • Support OSFI Reinsurance filing
  • Partner with Risk Management team to research, review and implement OSFI Guidelines / update Risk Management Framework.

Internal audit and Control testing:

  • Draft and update corporate policies and compliance / risk management documentations
  • Lead Sox controls testing (Model Audit Rule) and process narratives update
  • Partner with and provide audit support to internal and external auditors.

Business Partnering / Financial Analysis on Projects

  • Act as a business partner and manage relationships with other departments and stakeholders
  • Support IFRS 17 analysis and reporting (accounting policies, data validation, audit)
  • Assist with financial analysis on cost vs. benefits of organizational strategic initiatives, model various scenarios as well as perform sensitivity analysis in excel
  • Preparation of presentation materials for leadership review

Support:

  • Collaborate and support other team members to achieve common goals
  • Ad hoc projects and reports according to business needs and requirements.
  • Performs back-up duties when Finance Director is away

 



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • 3-5 or more years of experience along with an Accounting/Finance designation (CPA/MBA/CFA/other)  
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in financial reporting in a SOX regulatory control environment
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills who can prioritize multiples deliverables to meet timelines
  • Ability to thrive in a fast pace and changing environment (Continues improvement to existing process)
  • Strong attention to details, intellectually curious to understand drivers and root causes behind the numbers
  • Collaborative team player and ability to communicate well with all levels of management
  • Knowledge of accounting standards is an asset: US STAT, US GAAP (LDTI), and IFRS
  • Previous experience in insurance industry is an asset
