Job Title:   Site Plumber/Gas Fitter – Eskay Creek

Position Summary: Reporting Directly to the Site Services Supervisor, and the Utilities and Maintenance Managers, this position is responsible for all site Plumbing, Gas Fitting and general HVAC troubleshooting, repairs, installation, and maintenance activities.

 

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

  • Awareness of and compliance with provincial and Federal occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and the Mines Act.
  • Active participation in Skeena Resources’ Safety mandate.
  • Ensure adherence, awareness, and leadership support for the Company’s safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Practice and promote company environmental, health, safety, and operational policies and procedures.

Plumbing & Gas Fitting Responsibilities

  • Perform plumbing, gas fitting, pipe fitting, and general maintenance on gas appliances and lines.
  • Monitor large propane storage tanks and assist with the maintenance of large propane-fired air heating units.
  • Maintain plumbing systems, fixtures, drinking water treatment, and distribution systems.
  • HVAC and/or Refrigeration experience or certification is a definite asset to the position.

Maintenance & Inspections

  • Work with Supervision and Maintenance Planning to develop, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Regularly inspect all inclusive areas for defects and opportunities for continual improvement.

Operational & Logistical Duties

  • Safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain a daily log of activities and system logs as required.

Training & Team Development

  • Participate in ongoing training and development as needed.
  • Encourage and support the development of junior personnel.
  • Promote teamwork, cross-cultural relations, and understanding.
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive cross-cultural work environment.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, which may include work outside of the primary trade(s).
  • Support additional tasks as required by the Company.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

Education/Qualifications: 

•Interprovincial Journeyperson ticket is required for this position, as well must be a certified gas fitter.

Experience Skills: 

•Minimum 3-5 years related experience, preferably in a remote camp in the mining industry

•Must have a Valid Driver’s License

•Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment

•Must be able to pass Fit For Duty testing

 

Working Location & Conditions:

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

 

Compensation:

The expected hourly range for this position is CAD $50-$55, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
