The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Parks Supervisor, this role is responsible for supporting the Parks Department in clerical, administrative, and operational tasks. You will gain hands-on experience in public service, park management, and community engagement. As the Parks, Administrative Assistant (Student), you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

Provide general administrative assistance, including answering phones, responding to emails, and assisting with customer inquiries

  • Input and maintain data on park facilities, events, and programs
  • Assist in organizing, filing, and maintaining physical and electronic records related to park operations
  • Monitor and order yard facility supplies and operational materials necessary to maintain park assets
  • Track supplies, equipment, and materials used for park maintenance and programs
  • Assist with managing and updating the Citywide customer inquiry tracking system
  • Help coordinate community events and programs, including scheduling, preparation, and cleanup
  • Assist with processing invoices and verifying accuracy
  • Provide and maintain accurate statistical records for the department
  • Help compile and organize documentation for claims or reimbursements
  • Assist in communicating with the public, community groups, and other stakeholders
  • Support various departmental functions and special projects as needed

 

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a motivated student working towards a degree or diploma in Public Administration, Recreation Management, Environmental Studies, or a related field and is returning to school in Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated strong administrative skills, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. We are seeking an individual with superior communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, and excellent organizational skills.

 

The successful candidate for this position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely, and after hours (as required).

 

This position offers an hourly wage of $20.62.

 

Satisfactory proof of schooling or return to school, may be requested.
