The UX Designer at JSI plays a pivotal role in driving our product development, leveraging user-centered design principles to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in UX design, a strong understanding of user-centred design principles, and a passion for creating intuitive and engaging digital experiences. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and designers, they shape the user experience of our cutting-edge, mission-critical products. Their expertise in balancing technical constraints with business objectives and user needs is essential for JSI to meet customer demands and drive growth and profitability.

This role reports to the Senior Manager of Product.

Role Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to UX design projects from concept to implementation.
Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to communicate design concepts effectively.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align design solutions with business goals.
Advocate for user needs while balancing technical and business constraints.
Iterate on designs based on feedback and data insights.

Qualifications:
5+ years of UX design experience in a professional setting.
Strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design work across web and mobile applications.
Proficiency in Figma, Illustrator, and Adobe XD.
Solid understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, and information architecture best practices.
Strong visual design sense with attention to layout, typography, and hierarchy.
Strong communicator capable of delivering compelling presentations.
Bonus Skills:
Experience designing enterprise software, especially data analytics applications.
Experience designing for accessibility and familiarity with WCAG guidelines.
Experience with mobile design and responsive design principles.
Experience with design systems and component-based design.

Education:
Degree or diploma in HCI, interaction design, or a design-related field.

Work Conditions:
Required to hold a Canadian passport
Ability to attain and maintain a Government of Canada Top Secret-level security clearance
Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines
Hybrid work model (2 days per week in the JSI office in Kanata, Ontario)
Occasional travel (<10%)

How We Work

You will be expected to work in a remote/hybrid environment reporting to our Kanata, Ontario location 2 or more times per week.
