Work Structure: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days work from home)

Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing. We operate a Youth Drop-In Centre, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a Transitional Home, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

About the Role
 

As a Finance Coordinator, you will: 

  • Fund Development, Data Entry & Reconciliation: Ensure accurate tracking and reconciliation of fundraising revenue, donor stewardship data, and CRA compliance for charitable receipts and sponsorships.  
  • Day-to-Day Accounting: Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, supporting audits, ensuring financial controls and risk assessments are maintained. 
  • Financial Performance & Budgeting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual budget preparation, financial forecasts, reports, and statements.  
  • Compliance & Financial Analysis: Ensure timely government filings (T3010, HST, payroll remittances, etc.) and conduct month-end reconciliations and financial variance analysis  
  • Additional Responsibilities: Manage petty cash, vendor invoices, and bank reconciliations, financial transactions, reports, and accounting records. 

 

What You Bring 

  • Education & Experience – Degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent work experience; non-profit and fund development experience is an asset. 
  • Understanding of GAAP for Not-for-Profit organizations and CRA legislation. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Teams) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar). 
  • Attention to Detail & Problem-Solving – ensure accuracy and quality in all tasks; identify and issues that may impact timelines and seek guidance on potential solutions 
  • Organizational & Adaptability – ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, work independently, and respond to changing organizational needs. 
  • Communication & Teamwork – excellent interpersonal skills; openness to feedback for continuous learning and improvement..
