Geotechnical Engineer

The Opportunity: 

At WSP, we're continuing to grow and develop our expertise in Geotechnical Engineering, operating as a trusted advisor and technical expert on engineering design challenges for our clients across multiple industries. WSP is currently seeking highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 12 years experience. You will work closely with our professionals, collaborate with industry experts, and work on various projects throughout Ontario and potentially across the country.

A day in the life…

• Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Manage site investigations, soil and rock sampling, and geotechnical analysis.
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports, designs, and recommendations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
• Stay current with advancements in geotechnical engineering and incorporate new technologies and methodologies into projects.

What you'll bring to WSP…

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Registered or immediately eligible for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant (post-degree) working experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on consulting and/or project management.
• Strong technical knowledge in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software and tools.
• Strong technical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
• An Ontario Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Sense of initiative, attention to detail & team spirit.
