Key Responsibilities

As the HR/Payroll Administrator, you will take a lead role in attracting top talent and supporting day-to-day HR operations, including payroll. Your responsibilities will include:

Talent Acquisition & Recruitment:

  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes across multiple departments and locations, including job postings, resume screening, scheduling interviews, and reference checks.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and create job descriptions that align with company goals and values.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates through proactive outreach, networking, and relationship building in rural and industry-specific communities.

Onboarding & Employee Experience:

  • Prepare and deliver onboarding materials, facilitate new hire orientations, and ensure smooth transitions for new employees.
  • Assist in developing recruitment marketing initiatives and employee value proposition materials to promote the company’s employer brand.

Payroll Support:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Maintain payroll records and respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and benefits.

HR Administration & Compliance:

  • Update and manage employee files, contracts, and internal documentation in line with privacy and employment regulations.
  • Support benefit administration, vacation tracking, and preparation of required government reporting (ROEs, T4s, etc.).

 

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following:

Education & Experience:

  • A diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in HR, with a strong focus on recruitment and candidate sourcing.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in applicant tracking systems, job boards, and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel); familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or Payworks is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of employment standards and best practices related to hiring and onboarding.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with candidates and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to recruitment challenges.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills, especially in managing multiple open roles and deadlines.
