Human Resources Assistant (Contract)


Position Description:

Together we will help you by providing a challenging career in the construction industry. We are seeking an enthusiastic HR Assistant to join our Human Resources team. This opportunity will provide hands-on experience in various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and HR administration. The ideal candidate is a student currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources or a related field and is eager to gain practical HR experience. Here’s What You’ll be Responsible for:

  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including filing documents, scheduling meetings, and managing correspondence.
  • Assist in the recruitment process by screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating with candidates.
  • Update job descriptions and prepare job postings.
  • Participate in interviews as needed.
  • Attend College and University Career recruitment fairs and other networking events as required.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including preparing paperwork.
  • Prepare new employee orientation packages.
  • Assist in setting up employee profiles in the HRIS database.
  • Assist with policy updates and maintenance of the Employee Manual.
  • Maintain HR records and update employee databases.
  • Assist in organizing employee training programs and other HR-related events.
  • Assist the T&D and Learning and Talent team with internal training programs.
  • Support employee engagement events, recognition programs, and surveys.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of internal communication materials (e.g., newsletters, employee announcements) to keep employees informed and engaged with company events, initiatives, and news.
  • Collaborate with the HR and Marketing teams, on strategies to keep employees engaged, i.e. The Bridge, social events, and other team-building initiatives.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations and assist with presenting.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize various tasks with conflicting deadlines.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Degree or Diploma in Human Resources/Human Resources Management.
  • Knowledge of current and relevant HR legislation.
  • Familiarity with HRIS software and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Primary work location in the Head Office.
