POSITION OVERVIEW
The Human Resources Manager oversees the administrative activities related to team members at the Women’s Centre of Calgary.  Key responsibilities include developing and implementing recruitment strategies, managing staff benefits, payroll, and onboarding new team members.  The Human Resources Manager plays a key role in assuring the organization has the policies and tools in place to build a psychologically safe workplace.  As a member of the leadership team, this role supports the organization in realizing its mission to be every woman’s place for support, connections, and community. 

 

KEY DUTIES

  • Manage the staffing process including recruitment, selection, and onboarding.
  • Create and maintain a compensation strategy based on current market research and other relevant sources.
  • Ensure human resources policies and best practices are applied consistently.
  • Maintain HR systems and processes.
  • Ensure the organization is compliant with relevant employment and workplace government regulations.
  • Maintain organizational chart and job descriptions.
  • Review team member issues and conflicts and bring them to a resolution.
  • Provide clear direction on organizational goals and priorities.
  • Oversee administrative procedures to meet the objectives set by senior management.
  • Guides and supports employees and leaders through organizational transitions to ensure smooth adaptation, alignment with new goals, and sustained engagement.
  • Create a positive work environment and encourage staff to contribute at all levels of the organization.
  • Contribute towards a culture of psychological safety.
  • Participate in activities related to equity, diversity, and inclusion as well as Truth and Reconciliation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in human resources, labour relations, business or a related area.
  • CPHR designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of Strategic HR Advisory experience.
  • Experience with commonly used human resource information systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proven track record of analysing data to guide strategic employment planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaboration. 
  • Knowledge of a range of human resource strategies and practices including compensation, hiring, employee relations; and the ability to apply these strategies in compliance with employment regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Basic financial acumen.


WORKING CONDITIONS
The Women’s Centre is a storefront community center operating in an open environment. This role occasionally requires attendance and participation in off-site meetings and events in the community. This position requires evening work.
