Intent of the process

The goal is to hire a Legal Assistant (Mediation) allowing for a redistribution of the workload and an increase of the level of service.

 

Work environment

DTSW Services Inc. supports separating and divorcing couples who have reached an out of court settlement.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications


Education

·       A Certificate or Diploma from a Community College, or equivalent; or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.

*In lieu of education, 3-5 years of work experience in administration; legal experience and client service experience

 

Experience

·       Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a Legal Assistant

·       At least three (3) years of family law experience

·       Experience in the delivery of administrative support services

·       Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, or Excel) DIVORCEmate, and Amicus Attorney

 

Knowledge

·       Knowledge of Family Law rules, statutes court filing and court procedures

·       Knowledge of how to collect and analyze documents manually and electronically

·       Knowledge of all Mediation processes and procedures

·       Knowledge of mediators’ practice preferences in the local Resolution Center (RC)

 

 

 

Abilities & skills

·       Ability to articulate, understand, support and perform under all JAMS policies and procedures

·       Ability to manage multiple tasks in a quick paced environment

·       Ability to proofread documents for grammatical, spelling, and punctuation

·       Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion when necessary

·       Ability to analyze, create and revise operating practices to improve efficiency

·       Ability to work with managers, co-workers and mediators while sharing critical information to accomplish objectives

·       Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing: Makes constructive suggestions, presents and discusses ideas, concepts and issues in a clear, concise, and effective manner

·       Ability to work effectively on projects crossing both regional and functional lines

·       Ability to plan, organize and work effectively under pressure (recommended)
