Legal Assistant – Litigation
Downtown Toronto

Our client, a top tier law firm with an exceptional reputation is in need of a Legal Assistant to join its team.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Legal Assistant diploma
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Litigation legal experience. Experience working in the area of municipal law would be an asset
  • Solid knowledge of litigation practices and procedures
  • Proficiency in MS Office

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transcribe and type legal documents
  • Organize and expedite flow of work
  • Route or answer correspondence
  • Initiate follow-up as required
  • Organize and maintain client files
  • Communicate with clients
  • Schedule meetings
  • Perform clerical, administrative and general office duties
  • Perform administrative duties with respect to accounting, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, etc.
  • Assisting other group professionals as required
  • Other duties as assigned

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients and lawyers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-orientated individual with good proofreading skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative
  • Able to set own priorities while maintaining flexibility
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Availability to work overtime, when necessary
