Scope:

The individual in this position is responsible for efficiently addressing the technical concerns of customers by directly servicing the Inside and Outside Sales teams and Customers. The Sales Application Engineering Technologist will work closely with Customers, TTM’s Sales, and NPI/PE/FEE/Quality teams to effectively address customer issues regarding the product to ensure that such product will suit TTM’s capabilities.  Successful Sales Application Engineering Technologist will ensure that all technical roadblocks in completing a customer quote/order are rapidly addressed to maintain customer relationships that foster trust and build customer loyalty.

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Responsibilities:

  • Reply to the Quotations team inquiries as required at quote stage for Risk Assessment of customer’s data 
  • Complete stack ups as required for Quotations and Customers
  • Pre-cam data/TGZ file creation support
  • Work closely with New Product Introduction (NPI)/Process Engineering (PE)/Front End Engineering (FEE)/ and Quality teams to support quotation generation and Risk Assessment/capability reviews
  • Provide Panelization support to Quotation team as required
  • Review information from the customer that is provided to prepare a quotation, such as Gerber files, fabrication drawings, specifications, etc. to assess the technical feasibility
  • Take ownership of closing all FEE/NPI/PE reviews
  • Identify Material Requirement based on Stack-up and provide alternative material options based on Material availability
  • Utilize supplier portals and TTM ERP system to Confirm Material Availability
  • Assist customers in defining and reaching disposition for anomalies detected at incoming and/or during quoting process
  • Submit RFQs for a technical review as required to NPI/PE/FEE/External Field Applications Engineer (FAE).
  • Get customer approval when waiving any customer requirements, as required.
  • Identify, develop and present training to the Quotations team based on customer expectations and feedback to enhance the Quotation Teams skill set.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to propose, implement and ensure effective solutions to correct product
  • Adhere to strict timeline expectations in communicating with the Quotations team and customers
  • Continually enhance expertise by conducting personal research and learning in order to improve technical skills regarding printed circuit boards and related technology
  • Work with FEE/NPI/PE to improve and add to technical skills
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by management.
  • Occasionally may need to work extra hours to complete urgent/priority tasks based on departmental requirements.

EHSS Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all EHSS policies and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), LOTO, Smoking, Noise Abatement, etc.
  • Regularly inspect equipment for safety and environmental compliance.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, near-misses, spills, leaks, incidents or injuries immediately.
  • Support initiatives to minimize waste and reduce energy consumption in operations
  • Comply with local, provincial and federal regulations (e.g. waste disposal, emissions and waste usage)
  • Ensure proper waste segregation (such as paper, plastic, gloves, filters, pops and cans, etc.), recycling and disposal in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Participate in the company’s EMP (environmental management programs) and waste reduction strategies, including reuse and recycling programs.
  • Attend all EHSS training and keep up to date with EHSS laws and best practices.
  • Participate in regular environmental audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Work closely with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams to ensure alignment with company-wide environmental goals and initiatives.
  • Adhere to Security policies and programs, such as ID badges, sign-in and access control procedures.
  • Participate in emergency drills and ensure familiarity with evacuation routes and procedures.
  • Be aware of the “CLEAN” acronym used in the EMS policy

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Self-starter who assumes responsibility and recognizes and solves problems
  • Excellent understanding of the design of printed circuit boards
  • Project independence, motivation and a success driven approach to complete responsibilities to client and TTM
  • Ability to coordinate and work effectively with many different departments, companies and personalities
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritzie tasks
  • Ability to multitask and capable of effectively undertaking a wide range of duties

Education and Experience:

  • 5 – 7 years' experience in a technical support area of Printed Circuit Boards
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma required.
