Role description:

The Senior Interior Designer - Healthcare will oversee the interior design process and deliverables as well as establish project direction for large-scale projects in North America. With strong leadership skills, experience with user group meetings and working with senior hospital management and P3 Partners, you will deliver world-class facilities. You will work collaboratively with various consultants and healthcare experts.

You will need to be a seasoned professional who is ready to take on complex design challenges, lead project teams, and contribute to Arcadis' growth. This role requires experience in various healthcare environments and needs a deep understanding of patient flow, staff workflow, infection control, accessibility, and integration of advanced medical technologies.

Role accountabilities:

  • With input from practice leads, oversee the interior design process and deliverables, establish project direction, and work within the project budget and schedule
  • Lead the development of interior design for healthcare projects, utilizing a combination of standard procedures and innovative approaches. Ensure designs meet client requirements and adhere to industry standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, interpreting their requirements, presenting design concepts, and providing updates on project progress
  • Collaborate with medical professionals, administrators and stakeholders to design healthcare facilities that meet functional, safety, and healing requirements
  • Manage multiple projects and a team of intermediate and junior designers; delegate and assign tasks appropriately, ensuring team members understand project objectives and deadlines
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their professional development and growth
  • Provide outstanding conceptual design/leadership, inspiring teams to continually strive for design excellence. Using knowledge of both current and future trends, deliver spaces that exceed client expectations
  • Prepare and administer construction documents consisting of plans, elevations, details and specifications
  • Be the final reviewer on team material before submissions and presentations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other design professionals who may be retained to provide consulting services, (i.e. architects, structural, mechanical, electrical and various engineers)
  • Assist with permit and tender applications.
  • Construction administration from tender through to project close out.
  • Develop project fees and have input into client budget.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in interior design, Architecture, or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • NCIDQ certified or Registered Architect
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a healthcare Interior Design Role
  • Experience working on P3 healthcare projects
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced architectural and interior knowledge to develop innovative patient-centered healthcare design solutions and resolve complex design challenges
  • Sound knowledge of Revit (must have), AutoCAD, Windows (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of dRofus or similar data management programs is an advantage
  • Contract Administration experience
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead project teams, mentor junior staff, and inspire collaboration across disciplines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working directly with client stakeholders and leading workshops

The salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
