The Role: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with a team of mechanical, electrical, and structural engineers/technicians to provide client-focused solutions.

ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities:
- Conduct research, analysis, and troubleshooting to identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions for clients
- Prepare designs and check engineering drawings, and calculations (weight, flow, thermal, stress, etc.) to support designs
- Prepare specifications, reports, test plans, design bases, and other technical documents
- Contribute to cost estimates and schedules
- Interface with vendors to obtain technical and commercial information and solutions
- Interface with clients for project scope development, design reviews, and progress meetings
- Travel to client sites during various project stages, conduct field assessments, and provide construction support
- Provide technical direction to construction contractors and assess quality of field work
- Where appropriate, manage projects, maintain and plan cost control, identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
- Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations, and Procedures
- Provide technical assistance, review, and approve work output of mechanical personnel, as required
- Ensure HSE regulations are followed methodically

Expected:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree from a recognized university
- Registered professional engineer in Canada
- 15+ years of experience in the Consulting, Power Utility, Mining, Industrial, and/or Renewable Energy sectors considered an asset
- Demonstrable experience in managing mechanical scopes of multi-disciplinary projects
- Solid knowledge of ANSI, API, ASHRE, ASME, CSA, and ISO standards, Canadian electric utility industry practices, and local codes
- Experience with technical software such as Aspen, AutoCAD, Caesar, Navisworks, etc.
- Experience with assessment or design of industrial HVAC, piping, material handling, hydraulics, or rotating machinery
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong client focus
- Resourceful team player with self-starter aptitude
- Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
